The Application of Miran Rope Displacement Sensor in Geotechnical Engineering Monitoring
2026-09-21
In geotechnical engineering (such as tunnels, bridges, dams and deep excavations), the minute deformations of structures often directly affect the safety of the entire project. Therefore, high-precision displacement monitoring has become an indispensable part of construction and operation. The rope displacement sensor from Miran provides an efficient and reliable solution for geotechnical engineering monitoring.

As can be seen from the picture, the monitoring site environment is rather complex, with a rough concrete structure (possibly a tunnel segment or a large rock and soil testing component) on the surface. The rope displacement sensor of Miran is securely installed on the concrete surface via a metal bracket. The thin steel wire rope (pull wire) drawn out by the sensor is anchored at the monitoring point on the other side of the structure and connected to an orange data cable. When the measured structure undergoes deformation or displacement, the steel wire rope will be stretched or retracted, and the precise mechanism inside the sensor will rotate accordingly, converting the physical displacement into an electrical signal for output.
In the construction site of geotechnical engineering, which is characterized by high dust levels, high humidity and harsh environmental conditions, the rope displacement sensor from Miran has demonstrated remarkable advantages:
Ⅰ.Installation is convenient: As shown in the on-site diagram, the sensor is small in size and can be quickly attached to rough surfaces via a simple bracket, making it suitable for complex engineering environments.
Ⅱ.High precision and stability: Capable of capturing structural deformations at the micrometer to millimeter scale in real time, ensuring the accuracy of the data.
Ⅲ.Long-distance measurement: Meeting the displacement monitoring requirements for large-span structures in geotechnical engineering (such as bridge deflection, slope sliding).
By integrating the Miran rope displacement sensor with the automated data acquisition system, engineers can obtain real-time information on the health status of the rock and soil structure, achieving an upgrade from "manual inspection" to "intelligent early warning", and safeguarding the quality of the project and the safety of personnel.
